Back in Time: Milestones of the last 50 years
History & Milestones
Welcome to the history of Lehner Wool. Since our foundation in 1969, we have grown from a small carpet weaving mill to an innovation leader in sustainable sheep's wool products. Discover our key milestones, from revolutionary wool protection processes to pioneering packaging solutions.
2020
Recyclable (food) packaging
To reduce the use of plastic in the mail-order food trade, we are working with an online shipper of regional foodstuffs to develop packaging for cooling food in transit that is 100 % recyclable.
2019
Rebranding: Lehner ♥ 100 % Wool
To mark our 50th anniversary, we are rethinking our brand world and focussing on our expertise and love of sheep's wool with the umbrella brand "Lehner loves 100 % wool". We also continue to grow: new hall, new packaging, new delivery, new offices.
2016
Revolution in wool protection:
The Ionic Protect® process
As part of his involvement in various research projects, Alexander Lehner has developed the possibility of an effective plasma treatment as long-term insect protection for sheep's wool: sustainable and completely biocide-free. The Ionic Protect® process has been tested, long-term tested and certified and is a globally unique solution.
2014
Our wool centre celebrates its opening
After years of construction work, our competence centre for wool opens its doors. Since then, we have been organising courses, further training, seminars and congresses in our showrooms and training rooms and providing an insight into our wool expertise.
2013
World record attempt
Alexander Lehner and more than 40 helpers processed 350 kilos of sheep's wool into a 170m² woollen rug on the community façade. Although no world record was achieved, the impressive effort will be remembered. A remarkable joint success as part of the Wool Art Festival in Waizenkirchen.
2013
Revival of hand-woven rugs
Life is breathed back into the old looms. Another innovative Lehner product range is created with the new FELICE rug system.
2010
Brand foundation Silentum
Silentum is launched as a brand. The sustainable acoustic felts make people sit up and take notice when it comes to room acoustics and are a highly attractive solution for interior design.
1996
The birth of STYLIT products
We are taking part in the Trendset trade fair in Munich. In our luggage: the ISOLENA trade fair stand, the dining room table from home, a portion of youthful recklessness and a florist who decorates with woven wool. This is how the STYLIT product line - then still called Blumenwolle/Lehnerfloral - was born.
1996
Brand foundation: ISOLENA
The ISOLENA brand introduces sheep's wool to the market as a sustainable insulation material. All machines were developed and built by hand by engineer Alexander Lehner.
1992
Lehner enters the second generation
Kurt and Herta's son Alexander Lehner takes over the business together with his wife Felicitas. The two gradually develop new fields of application for the raw material sheep's wool.
1969
Foundation of the rug weaving mill
Kurt and Herta Lehner found the rug weaving company 'Lehner Wolle'. Our innovative spirit has a long tradition: as early as the 1970s, the company invested in the development of new yarns and weaving techniques.
